She grew up in country Queensland, with her mother being a talented seamstress who made all of her clothes. She never felt the need for a big wardrobe; she found a couple of pieces she loved and wore them over and over again.
Ukiyo is, to Gerry, about using beautiful fabrics, creating timeless designs and making small batches - sustainably. The core values of her upbringing are reflected in the core values of Ukiyo. Gerry wants to be conscious of her choices and to understand the impact her choices have on people and on the planet.
