About a Girl has been a local favourite in Nobby Beach for years! When the store went up for sale in 2015, the now owners knew they wanted to be part of it.
Coming from a corporate background, they were both ready for not only a change, but also a challenge, and the next thing they knew, they were owners of this beautiful boutique! After 17 years of friendship, the owners started on the most terrifying, but exciting ride together!
As most girls do, they have a love for fashion, but more importantly, they love the chilled, coastal lifestyle, and this is reflected in their style and pieces throughout the store.

Skye's Grandfather ran the Rio Milk Bar in Summer Hill for over 60 years. Every day he put on a suit and tie and opened the store.
From a very young age, she dreamed of owning her own business. She had no idea what that was going to be or how she was going to make that happen...
A year after my Grandfather passed away, Skye met my husband. He was living in Burleigh at the time, overlooking the ocean and the beautiful Burleigh beach. Skye fell in love with the area instantly. It was then she discovered Bird on a Wire and it soon became her favourite store.
Never could she have imagined one day she would own the gorgeous little boutique nestled amongst a community only a stones throw from Burleigh Beach on the Lower Gold Coast Hwy. Terre Lee Tonkin has done an amazing job building the business prior to Skye and she established it in 2011.
The warm, friendly, intimate shopping experience Terre has created in this unique boutique is something Skye hoped to replicate for the customers. With the support of her husband and family, this dream has became possible.

This companied with her passion for helping women find and fit their perfect outfit ensure you can feel confident, comfortable and gorgeous in what you wear.
Leah is driven in business to empower other women through fashion. Building confidence in them and along the way normalising body shape and size. Her message is that we are all uniquely beautiful and should be confident in what we wear and how we approach every day.
Leah is well known for her ability to work with customers to find a piece they love, often challenging what customers consider 'their style'. Her extensive product knowledge and ability to connect and build authentic relationships with customers is key to being able to execute this. With over 15 years experience in the industry, this is Leah's third fashion retail chain with her initial store founded in 2006 selling her original designs for both men and women.
In her spare time Leah loves being active, outdoors, spending time with her kids and sewing. When active she particularly enjoys going to the gym, surfing and playing netball. She has 3 kids - Olive, Lulu and Harley. Her passion for sewing over the years has acquired a unique collection of designs, something we might bring to Bliss customers in the near future.

It s obvious Sharon who owns this fabulous boutique adores the original ‘hippie fashion’ remembered from her childhood, she loved to shop her heart out, has really paved the way for her passion for all things inspired by the bohemian hippy, festival fashions and the endless summer.
